What fun to really focus on building for these 4 weeks, starting April 7. We plan a range of projects which will cover a particularly wide range of experience. We’ll hands-on build, renovate and repair 4-6 hours per day all week. There are no weekend workshops Explorations in April. During the course of the month we’ll discuss and practice the entire range of principles and steps to build your own cabin. we begin go into the Field House to lay a floor and run water and electric lines. We’ll mark, cut, frame and install doors and windows as well as install interior sheathing and build counters. Roof repair is high on the list too. too. We[ll likely continue into the first half of May. Since the Field House will be a Shared Living Area we’ll set up a kitchenette, composting toilet, and make it homey. adobe GuestHouses. What Ihope you take from this weekend workshop in Permaculture are some concrete ideas for ways to work with your own land, and some inspirational ideas for a foundation from which you can continue to explore this fascinating topic. We will make an "A" frame tool, which is a rustic way to gauge the slope on your land...very important for erosion control. We will make sponges for the trees to conserve more water, and we will also explore ways of contouring the land to restore native vegetation over time. We will talk about sheet mulch, and do a demonstration plot...We will get dirty!I would also like to do a design activity for your own spaces, so bring your questions and be prepared to think about your personal needs for productive land space. We will have a bit of lecture, questions and answers throughout, and LOTSOF FUN!! You may want to bring gloves, water bottles,and work clothes.
